Headteacher's Update - 11 July 2025
Headteacher's Update - 11 July 2025

It’s been another positive and purposeful week in school. Our Year 9 students enjoyed a well-earned Rewards Trip in recognition of their achievements this year. Back on site, students took part in a dynamic Science Masterclass, and our Art Exhibition showcased outstanding creativity and attention to detail. Thank you to all the families who attended and commented on the high standard of work—our thanks to the Art team for making this possible. Our Year 5 coffee mornings and tours have remained very popular. It’s been a pleasure to meet so many prospective families, with visitors consistently praising the focus, manners, and maturity of our students. A further highlight of the week was the Year 9 and 10 performance of The IT Production, which took to the stage last night. I had the pleasure of seeing rehearsals and was impressed by the energy and talent on display—huge thanks to the Drama team for their work in bringing it together.

Our Year 10 students have continued to receive their end of year examination results this week. These are important moments for reflection, progress and motivation as they look ahead to Year 11. Meanwhile Year 12 students took part in a personal statement writing workshop on Tuesday, beginning the important process of preparing for university and future pathways. It is encouraging to see such thoughtful reflections and ambition.

In preparation for changes to the school day in September, we have piloted a new grab-and-go lunch serving hatch, which has gone down well with students. This is part of a wider effort to make lunch more efficient and enjoyable for all and links to the structure of the school day from September.

Looking ahead to September, we’re pleased to introduce three new members of our senior leadership team:

Mr Woodley and Mr Sainsbury will teach Business Studies. Mr Sadler will teach English.

We have included photos so that you can begin to familiarise yourselves with these new faces—you’ll be seeing more of them in the new academic year.

Sports Day – the Results!

Sports Day was a brilliant celebration of team spirit and effort. Congratulations to our form winners:

  • Year 7 – 7.1
  • Year 8 – 8.7
  • Year 9 – 9.6
  • Year 10 – 10.1

Special recognition goes to Frankie C, who broke the Year 10 Girls’ 300m record with a time of 51.65 seconds. Well done to all involved and thank you to my team for organising such a successful day.

Finally, a huge well done to two of our students who are taking part in the Race for Life this weekend to raise funds for cancer research. We’re proud of their dedication and community spirit. If you’d like to support them, you can donate via this link: https://fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/page/elliots-race-for-life-203793

We believe in encouraging and rewarding effort and achievement. Students earn HEART points which focus on positive behaviours for learning and the development of each and every student’s character.

We believe that by providing students with HEART points, students are encouraged to engage fully with all opportunities available to them.

They also provide a framework for students to achieve their personal best and to be rewarded for it.

Through our planned curriculum and focus on HEART, we strive to develop 6 character virtues which are in line with our whole school ethos of ‘Enjoy, Enrich, Achieve, Aspire’.
